Journey between past and present: the Talmud Project as digital culture workshop

“The Talmud Project as a digital culture workshop” was the theme of the last event of 2021, dedicated to the presentation of the Babylonian Talmud Translation Project in the territories.

The meeting aimed to delve into ways of enhancing and transmitting the millennia-old Jewish cultural heritage through advanced tools of computational linguistics, which for the first time in the Italian language make the Talmud accessible.

The event was also an opportunity to present the latest publication, released by the “Giuntina” publishing house, the Betzà treatise, dedicated to the “Yom Tov” (literally “Good Day” as “Festive Day”), the volume alternates questions and insights on what is allowed and what is forbidden to do on the holy days.

The meeting was attended by:

Clelia Piperno – Director Babylonian Talmud Translation Project.

Rav Gianfranco Di Segni – Translation Coordinator of the Babylonian Talmud Translation Project and Curator of the Betzah Treatise

Shulim Vogelmann – “Giuntina” Editor

Emiliano Giovannetti – Scientific Manager of the ILC-CNR Research Unit of the Babylonian Talmud Translation Project.
