The Talmud starring in “Tempo di Libri”

By sviluppo on 12 March 2018

The second book of the Italian translation of the Babylonian Talmud, Berakhòt (published by La Giuntina), was presented in the afternoon of Monday 12 March in Milan, at the International fair of books “Tempo di Libri”. The text was commented on and explained by the treatise curator, rav Gianfranco Di Segni, and by professor Stefano Levi Della Torre.

“In particular – explained Rav Di Segni – these are rules that originate from the prayer of Channa, the sterile woman who went to the Shrine to pray the Lord to grant her a child. The prayer was effective and since then a year a child was born, Samuel, the prophet whose life and works are dedicated to the two biblical books of the same name “

“Berakhòt is also important for the numerous parts of the story – added prof. Levi Della Torre – These are passages that open the space to philosophical considerations, to historical, archaeological and scientific knowledge, with passages of great economic and sociological interest, always without censorship of any subject “.

Reading the nine chapters of Berakhot we enter, in the best Talmudic tradition, in a sort of “universe” in which no argument is excluded from the discussion of the Masters.
